Coyotes forwards Clayton Keller, Nick Schmaltz, and Christian Fischer appeared before Tempe City Council in June to express their support for the new arena representatives from nearby Sky Harbor International Airport have raised concerns about the close proximity between the airport and the proposed residential area within the entertainment district. The Coyotes aim to build their proposed 16,000-seat facility just over a mile east of ASU on the site of a compost yard, with environmental remediation planned before construction begins. ![]() Gutierrez emphasized the Coyotes’ commitment to Tempe as their present and future home, pointing out how Mullett Arena is in a “much more centrally located area” compared to Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale. The Coyotes also plan to have a 400-seat student section in Mullett Arena, with ticket prices expected to land in the ballpark of $25–50 per game. The team has also sold out all 20 of its suites for the coming season. More drama for an NHL franchise who has excelled in it for a very long time.Gutierrez told ESPN the Coyotes’ season-ticket revenue is up 50% from its highest point during their entire tenure in Glendale. Then again, the city council of Tempe may vote the entire Coyotes arena project down. It almost seems to make the management/ownership of the Coyotes genius to think up a solution where both ASU and the Coyotes benefit here. The intriguing caveat here is that ASU has plenty of influence towards the city of Tempe since their university is located there. you scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours. That will save them a ton of renovation costs and as the saying goes. they'd love to play their basketball games there. Since ASU is allowing the Coyotes to use their new arena for NHL hockey, ASU has proposed that once the proposed new arena for the Coyotes which will be in Tempe, is built. But the average schmuck who may want to take in a game or even purchase season tickets may need to arrange a loan to pay for it. Now some die-hard Yotes fans will still foot the bill. It goes without saying that the team had to raise ticket prices since they will have considerably less tickets to sell. ![]() They sit at 50 now with just five games remaining. Mullett Arena has become an unexpected artistic success for the Arizona Coyotes. But the new college hockey building on Arizona State’s campus in Tempe, Ariz., where the Coyotes are averaging 4,600 fans a night, has also been an expected economic brush fire for the National Hockey League club despite much higher ticket prices. That record was set during the drastically awful 2014-15 season when the Desert Dogs only had 58 points. The Coyotes this season, while in the midst of a major rebuild will more than likely exceed their worst point total in franchise history.
